If I may be so bold, I'd even take the time to recommend a varietal for this experiment as it is one of the most transparent grapes out there - Riesling! Not transparent in a visual sense, but in that it reflects the soil and climate from which it comes in very dynamic and expressive ways (you can also get OTD for less than $150 for a pretty good quality mixed case I'd bet!)

Besides, It's 95 degrees outside!!
